The UK Landline Switch-Off: Is Your Business Ready?
By January 2027, the UK's traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and ISDN services will be permanently switched off. This means that analogue landlines will no longer operate in the way they do today. Instead, calls will be made over the internet using digital technology, often referred to as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) or Digital Voice.
Why is this happening?
The existing copper phone network is decades old, becoming increasingly expensive to maintain and no longer meets the demands of modern communication. Moving to a digital network provides better reliability, improved call quality, and access to new features such as call forwarding, voicemail to email, video calling, and greater flexibility for remote working.
What does this mean for you?
